Our Hershey Experience!

We took a trip to Hershey, PA this summer. (I think it's our 5th time there!) We knew things were jinxed when we had to change the date twice because of Robert's head-cold and Joseph's strep throat! Anyway, this year we decide to stay in Harrisburg at the Best Western since the Hershey Lodge is over $300/per night!! Kind of steep for us right now. Anyway, we get to the hotel and they have us down for a "smoking" room - we are definately not smokers, not to mention that we all have sinus issues out the wazoo! They have nothing else available, so we figure that we would go check it out and see how bad it is. Well, you might as well just sleep in an ashtray! Needless to say, we did not stay there. I still had a sinus headache an hour after we left! We tried another hotel across the way, but they only had a room available for one night - we planned on staying four! We figured we would bite the bullet and call the Hershey Lodge and take whatever they had available. Of course, they were all booked! By now, Robert is spewing out expletives left and right and the kids just want to know when they can go to the park! Here we are having driven three hours, pre-purchased park tickets in hand, and have no place to sleep! It's 3pm - I am certainly not going to the park now, then driving 3 hours back to New Jersey! We decide to just drive toward the park, pull into the next hotel, and take whatever they have! We found a great little place called the Country Hearth Inn & Suites! It was perfect - 10 minutes down the road from Hershey, free continental breakfast, and $99/per night! My prayers were answered and our vacation was saved!

Daniella found her new love of rock-climbing while we were there. She climbed a 32 ft. rock wall 5 times! The guy working the wall nicknamed her Spider Girl!

Of course, Joseph was just interested in the chocolate and how much stuff he could buy! Ah, to be six years old again!

Another School Year Begins! Yuck!

The first day seemed to go off without a hitch! Huge surprise to me, but certainly appreciated! Daniella is in the 6th grade this year (yikes) and yes, she is wearing a skort and the occasional ponytail! She is certainly becoming quite a young lady!

Joseph is in the 1st grade and just wants to know when his next day off is! Like father, like son! Anyway, he likes being in school, just not getting up and dressed to get there. I just hope I don't have to sit beside him on the couch everyday like last year! I literally had to feed him his breakfast so he wouldn't go to school hungry, and keep poking him so he wouldn't fall back to sleep! Getting him ready is the longest hour of my day!
